At some point we will hit a technological wall, and that wall does seem to be getting somewhat closer all the time, but it is still receding. I saw a graph a few months ago where they showed the experts opinions on how long in the future that wall would appear, and in the mid 80's it was 7 years out, now it is down to 5 or 6, but technologists are amazingly able to find workarounds, so I wouldn't expect us to actually hit that wall for another 10 to 20 years (probably well after we hit the quantum limits and have built in redundancy for SEU's from cosmic rays.) All JMO.
