Elaine - Well, if a guy whose job depends on selling CD-RW drives says it's poised to be come the standard, that's good enough for me! I am convinced, Elaine. I'm folding up my tent and going home. NOT! Sheesh, what a huge load of HYPE that press release was! 2.7 million CD-RW drives will have been sold by the end of the year, according to the story. And next year, they will be made obsolete by DVD-RW. I don't see anything in the story to indicate that the new DVD-RW drives will be able to write to CD-RW disks, although they will be able to read them. And someone correct me if I am wrong (like I have to ask) but the last time I looked the vast majority of CD players in use could not read CD-RW disks, since most of them were made before the multi-read spec was created. So this statement, ''The phenomenal success of CD-RW is a direct result of its ability to create 650 MB discs that work in hundreds of millions of CD and DVD readers,'' is very misleading. - Allen
