My POWER went out the other night.

My neighbor came over and said,
"It looks like Y2K just hit our neighborhood."

I hadn't had dinner and my electric stove didn't work,
my microwave didn't work, my refrigerator and freezer full
of food.....well, if it was Y2K,,, major spoilage.

Luckily it was Halloween and my nephews had some
Jack-o-lanterns that we put throughout the house.
Later, they brought Candy home for dinner.

I have since ordered some special candles. They last
100 hrs. They don't smell and are extremely safe.
Cost is around $4 each. I orded 10 of them. Probably
not enough. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll
dig up the ordering number for Emgergency Essentials.

A note on buying Silver...buy mostly quarters and a few dimes.
Do not buy medalions because the average Jo can't be convinced
of their authenticity. In your food storage, also include
bartering items. Any ideas what these could be?

FOOD STORAGE - the best resources I have found come from
my Mormon neighbors. They are the World's specialists in food storage. They are required to have TWO YEARS of food storage at all times. I asked one if I could just leech off him, and he laughed, saying his family comes first. I think he has some guns to back that
statement up if times got bad. Ask your Mormon neighbors for some
of their literature on Food Storage and Preparedness. No other
literature even comes close to theirs. They are really big on buying
canned items in cases and rotating them through the year. They
also tell how much wheat and rice to have per person, along with
powdered milk, salt, sugur, jello, etc. You'll also need a wheat grinder and a good recepie book on how to cook from scratch. Make sure all these food items are stored to keep from weavels.

s.w.
