Are demonstrations and the trouble only limited to KL?

A buddy of mine flies into Penang Wednesday with his Chinese Malaysian wife and young son. Then they are expected to stay in Ipoh for two to three weeks. He is a little worried especialy after watching some fireworks on CNN today.
