Hi David-

Either your suggestion was so brilliant that everyone is still in shock, or simply otherly involved preparing for tonight's meteor show.

In any case, a few pre-Leonid news tidbits to occupy anyone till showtime:

techweb.com

some DSL noise (FREE registration):
nwfusion.com

and Dawson on Sprint ION with interesting comments on their developing
VOIP technology: multichannel.com

more DSL noise:
americasnetwork.com

Nortel SS7/IP initiative:
americasnetwork.com

for our CTO:
americasnetwork.com

And to clarify a previous post's postscript, here is my response to someone who thought I might have heard something about Gates/Allen and WinStar, which I have not:

"...simply a postscript suggestion all my own - with nothing leading me there save a knowledge that all in computerdom know that the next leg up for boxes, chips, software and "billions in pennies everyday"-content is highbandwidth network connections. That Gates and Allen have poured billions into cable and satellite TX, establishes their commitment and vision. They don't care HOW the bandwidth gets there, they just want it soon. And stodgy Bellheads aren't known for their ability or willingness to deliver anything soon, or at the behest of anything other than THEIR exclusive best interests.

So IMO, WCII's pioneering drive could WELL inspire participation by any NUMBER of fabulously wealthy, motivated communication luminaries. Gates and Allen are simply the obvious..."
