Yes, I did (attend the shareholder meeting). In fact, I just got back this p.m., and have been working my way through the 100 or so new postings here that appeared since I left. This was the first Sun shareholder meeting I've attended, and I was surprised to find that we were asked to sign an NDA before being taken in by security! Given that, and the fact that I didn't really pay much attention to the terms of the NDA (and didn't take away a copy) I'm not sure just what I can say about the demos we were shown of upcoming products. I will say that I was very impressed, across the board; slick stuff is being prepared for announcement in just about every area of the company. I spent most of my time learning about Jini (_very cool_) and talking to the Enterprise CPU and storage guys (big bucks!). I also now have a personalized Java ring of my own (also _very cool_).

The meeting itself was about as you might expect. McNealy did most of the talking, and I had heard before much of what he said (e.g. Java + two drops of poison = Windows). They showed a Pixar video rendered on Sun machines that was a big hit with the attendees -- it's supposed to be on the Web at a URL that's written down on a piece of paper somewhere in my luggage -- as I recall, it's entitled Geri's Game if you want to search for it.

I would categorize the meeting as generally upbeat and professional. It was standing room only, which seemed to surprise the Sun folks a little.

I imagine someone else who attended has already made comments which I'll encounter if I read through another 20 or 30 postings, so I think I'll let it go at that for now.

JMHO, as always.
