The concept of altruism exists. John argues that people are not motivated by it, that to be altruistic is an impossibility because all our actions are, in his belief, self-serving. If we can't make gold out of lead, it doesn't mean that the concept of alchemy doesn't exist.
Do you believe in man's ability to behave altruistically?
