What makes me sick is that I could have invested in the Internet search engine companies and would have made a killing.

Steve,
I know what you mean. About 3 to 4 years ago I began searching for ways to turn a profit in the Internet. I missed the opportunity to get AOL at the initial IPO of 12. After it split and ran up a few times I thought it was getting overpriced and the bubble would burst soon. That was I don't know how many splits ago. At that time I thought once people seen how much better AND cheaper the REAL Internet was (at that time AOL was still charging by the minute) people would dump AOL and get an account with an ISP. I'll give it to Case, he's stayed ahead of times by changing with them. He went with a flat rate model and made more money. Now he's change the company model again to more advertiser funded and making yet more money.

I just never thought the advertiser funded model would be as successful as it is. Yahoo, Excite and Lyco's have proved me wrong. I pretty much knew that searching the Internet would be something EVERYONE would need to do. I went with Quarterdeck because they sold the a www searching program called Web Compass. Once all the other search engines companies began offering the service for free that pretty much took care of any future Quarterdeck may have had with Web Compass (and my investment in them <g>). I still didn't think advertiser funded search engine companies would make "that" much money even though people would flock to them. BOY was I wrong! <g>

At about the same time I learned about ADSL and figured investing in fatter pipes would be more profitable than anything else since EVERYONE wanted and needed faster service. Invested in Amati because they held the patents, just about doubled my money and sunk it back into Westhell and here I sit. So much for would'a, could'a, should'a <g>.

Guess it's obvious I'm a little bored today......I'm rambling <g>.
