This is JP Morgan's predicted 12 month price for STO COM. JP Morgan is a well respected firm but you will have to judge for yourself.

The merger should be done way before 12 months and I would like to learn what the value of the shares in the new firm are predicted to be. I assume that the current STO COM share holders will get shares in the new Stone/Smurfit Corporation.

Is the JP Morgan 12 month price prediction made on the assumption of the new shares or what? I don't know.

NEW YORK, Nov 16 (Reuters) - J.P. Morgan analysts Mark Connelly and Glenn Fodor said Monday in a research release they raised Stone Container Corp. (NYSE:STO - news) to a buy from a market perform rating.

-- The company's recently announced merger with Jefferson Smurfit Corp. (Nasdaq:JJSC - news) would be a positive step for Stone shareholders, improving the secular outlook the report said.

According to the analysts, without the merger, Stone Container's financial outlook would be very weak and failure to close the deal would put downward pressure on Stone's equity valuation.

-- The 12-month target price is $19.
-- Shares were up 1-3/16 at 13 on Monday.
