You've had nothing but problems with three USR modems? Really? With all due respect, perhaps the problem lies with the common denominator, i.e., the operator.

Motorola? They are all but extinct as a major player in the modem market, although there is nothing fundamentally wrong with their products. They've simply been outcompeted, and have become a follower instead of an innovator. Their best hope for a comeback lies in incorporating their wireless prowess into traditional modems, IMO.
