Excellent article!

That is the first article (of many) which I have read that lends insight into future plans that may actually turn Apple around. It seems Apple's management is proccupied with attempting to allay the fears of Mac users, rather than offering concrete strategy for the future.

I read somewhere that former CEO John Scully felt his biggest mistake at Apple was not porting the Mac OS to Intel's microprocessors. He was aware of the companys problems but its culture would not allow the change. Now, many years later, it seems management is still ultimately loyal to a customer base which has led Apple to a billion dollars in losses in one calendar year.

The company may finally be moving in a better direcion, somtimes you have to hit bottom before you see the light. I hope the majority of recent press is aimed at keeping loyal Mac users on board until the point where Apple has a ubiquitious platform, rather than reality. I fear that making too many concessions to shrinking market segment will cripple any opportunity for a turn-around.
