Maybe the new monetary police, the $$, should detain people in public places and burn whatever money they had on them. Raids on houses would occur unless there was a current receipt tacked on the door. All money found in raids would be publicly burned and the savers derided in public.

To placate the academics each person would be allowed one pocket labeled M1 and one pocket labeled M2. What distinction there was between M2 and M1 would be unclear but it would at least provide many PhD students hours of study and certainly a Nobel prize or two.
