Company Press Release
Expatriate Drilling Cerros Cristales Copper Project in Chile
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Expatriate Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary Latina Resources Ltd. has initiated field work on the Cerro Cristales Property. Latina is earning an initial minimum 60 percent interest in the property from Compania Contractural Minera Ojos Del Salado (Phelps Dodge, Chile). Phelps Dodge owns 100 percent of the 9600 hectare Cerro Cristales property. It is favourably located less than 50 km south of Antofagasta in Region II in northern Chile at an elevation of 1300 m within the Atacama Desert.

Latina has completed detailed surficial geological mapping, additional rock chip sampling and geophysical surveys in the area of a copper anomaly defined by Phelps Dodge. Altered dioritic and granitic rocks are present in and adjacent to brittle-ductile deformation zones within the Atacama Fault Zone. At surface they are variably mineralized with oxide copper minerals comprised mainly of chrysocolla. Preliminary bottle roll leaching tests by Phelps Dodge indicate the mineralization is a suitable candidate for low cost, heap leaching and solvent extraction electrowinning of the copper.

Continuous surficial rock chip sampling by Latina confirmed previous point sampling by Phelps Dodge. Results of Latina's sampling ranged from 0.01 to 0.74 percent total copper. In total 59 samples were collected representing 471 metres of sampling. The length-weighted average of all the samples is 0.23 percent copper and compares favourably with previous results obtained by Phelps Dodge. It is unclear if the intense weathering in this desert environment has leached copper in the surface capping. Drilling will commence shortly to determine what copper grades are present at depth.

The two main mineralized areas have dimensions of 150 by 500 metres and 100 by 600 metres. In some areas possible extensions of the mineralized zones are covered by gravel so their full dimensions are not known.

Gradient induced polarization (IP) surveying has recently been completed by Quantec Geophysics. This work defined a subtle chargeability anomaly coincident with the known copper mineralization and also in an adjacent area covered by gravel. This anomaly is thought to reflect the presence of sulphide minerals at depth thereby indicating potential for copper sulphides and enriched copper oxides above the sulphides.

Drilling is commencing immediately and will comprise a program of about 1500 metres of air reverse circulation drilling. This program is expected to be completed within a week and assay results are expected within two weeks of completion.

Elsewhere in Chile and Argentina, Expatriate has identified several attractive base metal opportunities that it is in the process of acquiring. These acquisitions follow review of numerous projects plus selected field investigation and will provide the basis for future exploration activities.

A location map is available upon request.

Expatriate is a VSE-listed junior natural resource company having extensive mineral interests in the Finlayson Lake District in the Yukon and engaged in international mineral exploration through its wholly-owned subsidiary Latina Resources Ltd.
