Stocks don't normally go up without some dips. I accept that Brian is a sophisticated trader. His explaination assumed a short position. At least, that is how I read it. I'm pointing out that it may be an insurance position for a large stock holder who wants to retain the stock, but not lose money in the short term. In fact he may be putting himself in the position to lower his cost with some minor risk involved.

I have used this technique twice, but not on the same scale. <g>
