Paul, RE:"AMD selects one customer - Compaq OR HP ORE IBM - to get a new CPU speed grade, feeds that one selection, and all others get the lower speed grade parts. I'll bet IBM and HP are a happy bunch !"

HP got what they wanted with the 366. 66MHz RAM, El Cheapo mobo with integrated video, pretty box and nice margins. Since Compaq got the 400 first this time, look for IBM to get the 380 or maybe the 400 later. Actually, these are great marketing tactics...any shortage of chips withstanding. The 400, 380, 366 and 350 are all speed grades faster than the fastest Celeron, which leaves AMD in a nice postion....going into Christmas, since "Megahertz sells"(TM-McMannis). Meanwhile, due to poor yields, Dixon will be a notebook chip for a while, we won't see the Celeron 366 until January and the 400 until March/April. AMD still has a few months to pull a rabbit out of the hat and come up with something to battle the Katmai. What could that be? Hummm...any ideas...? <G>
