Kal, I read the article and the two points you mentioned came across very clearly to me, to wit:

The GDM emphasises, amongst other things, the 24 hour/7 day work concept, that many companies talk about but just don't deliver.
Their virtual technology development team has software developers in four offices in the US & India. Because they work in different time zones, they continue work around the clock. The benefits of this are obvious ... and I know some companies who sub-contract to try and achieve the same effect (but the communication is a BIG problem). There's a whole bunch of these companies in Israel and parts of Asia for instance.

The international resource pool also lessens any currency fluctuations, and as the $ is usually strong, allows them to undercut and outbid the opposition.

The stated intention was to expand this, within the confines of indigenous technical expertise being available.

As for the Y2K business, throughout the interview I thought this was played down and the oft mentioned strategy of turning down Y2K business that has no ongoing application management side for Synt underscored that. The emphasis was squarely on business software development & integration. Web page building was mentioned and there was considerable pushing of the new ESG ...so I guess that ERP is where a lot of the new hired guns will be focused.

I was very impressed. Specifically he said that he expected to increase margins because of the global set-up. He also said that investors should take account of the fact that they always beat earnings estimates !!. Heck ... how big a hint do investors need !!

Personally, I found the interview very reassuring and told me what I already had read ... that this is a very well run company, with focused management who are intent on staying ahead of the game.

And its still a relatively 'cheap' stock !!

Good luck all

Stephen
