Michael: I went to the IBM patent site to browse through some of the 110 patents assigned to Valence. Many of these patents are not particularly strong (for instance I looked at 5,616,437 a patent dealing with coating the electrodes with conductive oxides, and that technology was patented in principle by many, including Warshawsky in relation to electrochromic cells, which by the way are electrolytic cells as well). From that "perusal" it is very difficult to determine which of these are truly salient to the current battery produced and which are not part of the very lengthy trial and error process leading to the current battery, but irrelevant to current technology. I wonder if anyone on this thread looked into the patent position and can guide me to three to five patents that really provide VLNC with differentiation from the rest of the Bellcore licensees gang.

So far I looked at 40 abstracts and none indicated to me a strong intellectual property position. Please help.

Thank you in advance.
