THQ Gets its Revenge on Warzone
First sales reports of the new WCW/NWO wrestling game show off its retail success.

November 12, 1998 18:00

THQ told IGN64 today that its second N64 wrestling title, WCW/NWO Revenge, is making a killing at retailers since its release last month.

According to Toys R Us sales data, Revenge managed to outsell Warzone in its first two weeks of release, racking in overwhelmingly high sell-through numbers in many stores.

Although official data is not yet available, THQ is confident that Revenge is on its way to catch up with its million-selling predecessor, WCW vs. NWO: World Tour. THQ is expecting that much of its initial October shipment, a whopping 900,000 units, will land under consumer's Christmas trees this holiday season.

THQ is planning to follow up Revenge with an N64 version of the best-selling WCW Nitro for PlayStation, later next year.

P.S. Todd DeMelle, I was jokingly making reference to the fact that the recent gaps are being filled on technical merits rather than fundamentals, in support of the fact that as much as we'd like it to be the case, the stock does not move based on fundamentals alone. My bad ... but Warzone & Rugrats are gonna be to our good!
