Open question,, Does anyone know the equipment/support necessary for hosting web sites? I currently use my university's server for this purpose and know space can be rented but it seems like it's be more interesting if you could set up your own server at home,, at a reasonable price of course.....here's some more specific questions..

1. Could I use my PC ( Compaq 350mhz,, 64mb of RAM, plenty of hard drive) as a server?

2. If I could get a ADSL line would that be sufficient for web hosting purposes or would I need to get a more expensive T-1 line?

3. Where's a good place to go to get a domain name and NOT be obligated to host your site on the the seller's server? What the cheapest and most direct way to accomplish this?
