If your looking for a ottawa company to buy mitel it could be the one just down the
road....Newbridge. They have tundra that could be blended in with the semi side and
according to Merrill Lynch in a report done 23 October 1998 they stated..."we believe
the company (Newbridge) may start to move more towards the buy vs. build option that it has used
with its affiliate strategy". Of a further note around the time of the UB mess Newbridge
had kicked the tires at Mitel.

In no way am I suggesting this is anywhere close to a done deal now but It could make
life interesting and all things being equal Terry would have his old company back. This is
where he made his name and just look at Newbridge in Wales to see what roots means
to this man.

I know that the first part of Kirk Mandey's watch as CEO had been rough but he is up
for the job and would be another jewel in the Newbridge crown.

Regards
Glenn

This was in response to posts (700&701) on the Mitel thread suggesting that Nortel was looking at taking out Mitel (in my opinion it did not add up). I further quoted a report from Merrill Lynch on Newbridge saying that the company is looking at buy vs. build as a growth strategy.

I have no idea what you refer to with the Ascend/Mitel fantasy however perhaps a little less liquid might be in order. If you wish to have a full discussion on this topic please feel free to contact me at 613-831-3800 at your pleasure.
