You have to give Intel credit for seeing their errors early and reacting quickly. The executives at Intel are a lot smarter than people who post on Intel thread.

Cyrix and NSM got the direction of the market right, but because of limited resources they couldn't benefit from it.

There is one interesting part in the article:

Integration will likely help shave costs for PC makers because they will no longer have to include a separate graphics or modem chip. And, in this market, every dollar counts. The difference in cost between a complete motherboard and chip solution based around AMD technology and a solution based around Intel is around $2 in AMD's favor. If cache memory is counted, Intel is cheaper by around $7 to $10, he said.

I wonder how he calculated that. And I wonder what the difference is using MediaGX and when it becomes available - MXi.
