Also metroworks, thats strange, I thought they were a macintosh software concern so how could they possibly be
growing now (a few years ago yeah but not now). Maybe its a different company.

Michelle

Michelle,

Love your general insight into ERP/SCM, but come on. Believe it or not, a Macintosh software company can be growing significantly. In Metrowerks situation, it is the case of them growing from less than 1% of the Macintosh developer tools market to >90%. In fact, they have slowed in the last year as their sheer market share has limited their growth on the Mac.

They now also sell tools for other platforms, including the best development IDE for the Palm Pilot, a great development system for the Sony Playstation, and of course, tools for Win 95/98/NT and WinCE development. They also have a slew of Java tools for Macintosh and Windows. Even for Be OS, and now they are going to do Linux.

They have even made their development tools interoperate, so it is much easier to produce cross-platform projects, particularly for Java. I think their move to Linux will be really well received by general developers who like more in an environment than just raw gcc/gdb.
