Mike,

Hope your earnings ideas come to pass.

Here are some reasons why I like SMIT.

1. Excellent margins and operating leverage.
2. Wayne Case. The man not only recognizes opportunities but, can capitalize on them. He is a winner!
3. Technology. This is not my area of comfort so, I rely on help from others to understand what SMIT has and why it is important. The information and responses I get lead me to believe SMIT technology is very appealing to both the disk drive and silicon wafer industrys.
4. Balancers. Boring but, profitable and growing. The recent ISO 9000 certification and the purchase of Hofmann Systems GmbH should greatly enhance SMIT's European presence. [I think this makes SMIT number one in Eurpoe now, Please double check this factoid]
5. Veeco partnership.
6. Yaw Bore Pitch alignment system for attack helicopters. No sales, yet.

some of the risks are

1. Small float can lead to enhanced volatility on no news and small volume. Check out theweek of trading preceding the date of this post.
2. Q over Q revs and hence earnings can be choppy.

As a caution to the above statements, you should all understand that I am a little biased because I do own the stock.

I look forward to seeing other postings that follow both Michael's and mine.

Regards,

Steve Bell
