Here is a wise "lashing out threat" statement from MSFT in response to the news of the Sun win over MSFT....

Microsoft also suggested it could abandon its
support of Java altogether. Paul Maritz, Microsoft
group vice president of the platform and
applications group, said the company is not
bound to offer Java support in any of its products.
"The option of not supporting Java is one that
is open to us," he said.

S T U P I D ! ! !

Lets see, Java is very well entrenched in the Browser software and internet. MSFT is just giving all consumers strong reasons to abandon any further moves to I.E. If you stick with MSFT I.E. then dont expect that MSFT will continue to support Java on that or any other MSFT product.

Sounds very familiar to IBM's stand on Ethernet vs Token Ring and IBMs stand on EISA vs MicroChannel. Careful MSFT where you decide to draw a line in the sand - your customers will cross it dispite you!

Not a wise public statement by MSFT - I cant believe it came from a Senior VP. MSFT is just not good being on the defensive - to their competitor's beneift.

I'm sure NSCP will be advertising this statement to the world. I know I would if I were them!
