No question about it - TNT had the edge on Voodoo2 for the reasons you cite. The big question is, does 32 bpp give TNT the edge over V3? It seems to me that V3 will have the edge on
- price
- performance (both 2D and 3D)
- Voodoo name
- Glide as well as D3D.
TNT will have
- 32 bit
- marginally better picture quality (alhough we don't know what V3 actually delivers yet)
- faster D3D (Will it? Is this just because it has better drivers? Do you have more info on D3D performance?)

I agree it is all in the marketing. I can see a sales pitch for either product. Personally I would always go for the Porsche which, while it is not available with a metallic paint job goes faster for less money than the Mercedes. But then, I have to admit I am definitely biased in favor of TDFX.
