Micron Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:MUEI), the third largest direct
provider of computer systems, continued to expand its Canadian market
presence with the announcement today that Paul A. Amlani, 42, will
become the managing director of Micron's Canadian subsidiary, Micron
Computer Canada, Inc. Amlani will report to Scott Bower, vice
president and general manager of the company's commercial segment.
"Paul's expertise on the Canadian market and his leadership
capabilities make him an excellent choice to guide Micron's growing
presence in Canada," Bower said. "Paul has a proven track record of
building the sales and support infrastructure to allow for major
market expansion. Today's announcement is a part of Micron's overall
effort to strengthen our sales, marketing and service engine to better
serve our customers and maximize our position as a leader in the
industry," Bower said.
Amlani, a long-time Canadian resident who has more than 15 years
of experience in that market, will be the managing director of Micron
Computer Canada, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Micron
Electronics. The Canadian subsidiary was formed in October of this
year to support Micron's growing Canadian customer base. Amlani will
coordinate Canadian sales activities and recommend and implement
actions pertaining to new product development, product improvement,
pricing and distribution.
Prior to joining Micron, Amlani was the vice president of sales
for Compugen, which supplies desktop integration products and services
to networked corporations. Prior to Compugen, Amlani was responsible
for the Canadian operation of AST Canada Inc.
