Gregg, you totally failed... (I'm ranting here -big time for me)
(sorry if this posted twice...been a screw up somewhere)
to mention that they are not building a 3G system, but an upgrade in the evolution to 3G! Any cdma solution can be said to be building on 3G, as GPRS next year with GSM operators. Within radio spectrum restrictions of course, because IMT-2000 was also meant to be in the then free 2GHz area, but no, some countries sold off that spectrum for short term gain?
DoCoMo has as more subscribers as all the cdmaOne operators in the US, hardly small.
The most countries deploying cdma are in the WWL, not cellular.
GSM adds over 5 million subs per month and is still growing.
The digital wireless business is mature in Europe when compared to the US, so try not to be so condescending.
The litigation, as it stands at the moment, is whether cdmaOne can continue and not a question of the future WCDMA. If the case is proved then maybe we will see cross licensing...if needed.
I have nothing against you guys that have plowed in hard earned dough in to Qcom. I really hope it does pay off for you.
Once, this thread stood on issues and all I see today (and maybe only today) is the slow degeneration to the level of the Qcom Yahoo! thread.
I'll stop now, I've got it off my chest. :) Mika |
