>>Buy on rumor, sell on news was a good rule back in the days <<
Well one of the things is, is the rumor already known, I have frequently found that some news although easily obtained, is not news yet.. But will be soon.. This includes both good and bad. I can site numerous examples, eg before the disk drive sector crashed, it was widly known on SI about price competition, and other problems, I bought them thinking everyone knew it, then the news kept hitting and hitting and QNTM went from 40 to 20, Or Ebay, knew there was big news coming about european operations when the stock was at 50, even posted it here when it was 90 but it went up quite a bit when the rumor hit the street, but the real news still hasent hit the street. heck if I know.. I have bad luck.. I need some of what ever sue is using. |
