I don't think CDMA will be used for this. Qualcomm is big into CDMA but it is not the only area of expertise in this company. Omnitracs is not CDMA (at least on one link).

The expertise at Qualcomm would probably best be summed up as really really good and efficient digital transmission of information. The Cinema effort is more about data compression and overall quality of the reconstructed images and projectors then it is about how you get the info into digits.

Qualcomm is at least the second company started by Jacobs, Viterbi, White. Linkabit before them was a great company and there was no such thing as CDMA. Just satellites and efficient compression and decoding of information.

CDMA is for MANY users overlapping in the same system. Thousands of phones wandering around overlapping each other. In the case of satellite (not satellite cellular phones) you have discrete users with nice little dishes pointing at the satellites so they don't interfere with each other. CDMA is probably not the most efficient way to send data to and from these guys.
