I'd prefer a discussion of the issues; a reasoned investment decision on either of these securities could be profitable.

This zdnet.com indicates Intel engineers' next-generation attempt (i.e., Merced) is so poor that it won't even outperform HP's aging PA-RISC architecture. If CPQ/DEC, AMD, or others are clever and aggressive, they could head INTC off at the pass on the way to IA-64. Stranger things happen.

MSFT is fighting the only company in the world they cannot beat (the US government) on two (perhaps more) fronts, and starting to lose. Windows 2K should ship next year, but looks like an albatross. Novell just announced an agreement for NDS with Cisco. Apple may ship OS X before Winders 2K after all. Oracle thinks 8i will obviate the OS as now understood. Any of these might impact Microsoft's business.

Regarding
Maybe you should invest in Jim Henson Productions - the Muppets may be tame enough for you since you don't appreciate real business investments.

Perhaps you should consider LVNTF - investors in that disaster were distracted by bright lights, celebrity and apparent success. They made a really poor business investment, and paid the price.

Cheers,

mb
