Brian, all:
that Applied Materials Inc. (Nasdaq:AMAT - news), the world's largest maker of semiconductor equipment, has been telling its suppliers to get ready to ramp up production.
At the risk of being labled a perma-bear I would like to point out the following:
- analysts referred to two large-ish orders that came as a surprise in q4
- These orders accounted for the increase in bookings over expectations
- Bookings are expected to decrease to 600-675 next q.

Is it possible that the article you quoted from is referring to these orders in specific? I ask because, on the one hand, the CC set expectations for the next quarter to be flat-to-lower in terms of bookings, yet this article implies up to an 8% increase. These two facts seem at odds, at least on the surface...
