Silverton is beautiful and is definitely away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Keep in mind, that there is a touristy atmosphere around there (Durango to Silverton Train). When we all retire with $$$$ up the Wazoo, Silverton would not be a bad place to hang one's hat.

By the way, Having lived on the East Coast (Northeast and Southeast), the Intermountain West and the West Coast, I am admitting another bias. For me, life begins, ends, and revolves around Colorado. The USA is a great place to visit, but home will always be beautiful Colorado. I am not knocking anyone's home state, but as an
ex-Northeasterner (born and raised), I listened to Horace Greeley and went West only to find out it was too far. I came back a tad and now I am in heaven and alive.

Hope you succeed in getting to Colorado and enjoy the good life.

ATTENTION CALIFORNIANS: I am scamming this person. Colorado really sucks and you should never consider moving here.
