Hi Tech: here are two methods.Second method is easier imho.

To put a shortcut on the desktop

1 Click the item, such as a file, program, folder, printer, or computer, that you want to create a shortcut to.

2 On the File menu, click Create Shortcut.
3 Drag the shortcut icon onto the desktop.

OR #2
1 Right click any where on desktop
2 Click "new"
3 Click "shortcut"on list
4 CLICK Browse C:for program you want shortcut to
5 Look for exe.file
6 Highlight exe.file
7 Double click exe.file
8 Follow directions at bottom
