Penni, My favorite among the numerous universities I attended was one where there were no fraternities or sororities, not by executive fiat but by total lack of student interest. It was odd in other ways as well. Much allocation of funds was by student vote; intramural sports got double the money that intercollegiate ones did, and when I was there 75% of the students were enrolled in some intramural sport. I think it's much better that way; I also think that fraternities are a ridiculous anachronism. Yes, you can make friends in a fraternity. You can also make them outside a fraternity. Plus, you don't have to treat total jerks as if they were friends just because they happen to belong to the same club. Steve
