I downloaded it and extracted it with winzip, installed it and ran it all in 15 minutes. It took 9 of that to download which was slow for my cable modem. The server must have been clogged with all you 56kers out there. It compared the 473 records in the limited database with the programs on my C drive in about 30 seconds. Wish I had counted that as it went so fast. The earlier versions downloaded from the Zitec site went a little slower if I rember correctly. It is version 1.01. It is much simpler in design than the older versions. Gone is the bios checker and some of the other confusing options that were disabled any way. Why confuse potential cuatomers on the evaluation copy anyway. It gives a list of non-compliant files it found on the c drive and a Compliance Unknown list that it found on my c drive. Of course the latter list will shrink when the full database is used that comes with the full version.

I will have more on the 17 files it found non-compliant. Who knows how many it will find when the full database is used. That is shocking as I have a brand new PC with Win 98, Quicken 98, and some others that I thought were pretty new programs. If this is a taste of what the world will encounter, we are in for one real shocker come December 31, 1999.

It includes a nifty little browser that takes one instantly to the Discover web site for updates - for registered users of the full version.
