Fortinwit,I am still bear-ish short-term on AMAT, now also because of valuation concerns, not just the business conditions. I still have my list of conditions that must occur before opening a large long position, but I think it's too late to look for any significant M&A activity... again, the valuations have run away a bit. I'm still looking at the back-end for upturn confirmation, and although INTC has said some things that bode less than well viz their relationship with KLIC, KLIC is still the barometer.

In looking at the 1996 DW data I can see AMAT pulling back to $34.50 approx. then retest the $39 and a fraction and then pull back to $33.50 approx. (shakeout) but then break through the $39 level to $40 and higher to $45+ range in Tito's yoyo senario in January when the mutual funds began to buy. Going out on a limb<g>

Just my opinions for what it is worth.
