MGI Software Takes Top Awards in Digital Imagery at Comdex/Fall '98; Products Honored for Usability, Value, and Technical Innovation
LAS VEGAS, NV-November 19, 1998-MGI Software Corp. (TSE:MGI), the leader in photo and video software for home and business PC users, today announced that its retail and OEM products have received prestigious recognition for product excellence at this year's Comdex Fall industry conference attended by more than 200,000 resellers and corporate decision makers. Recognizing MGI Software's commitment to delivering highly innovative, yet easy to use, affordable products, PC Computing Magazine awarded MGI PhotoSuite II its highly coveted MVP award as the Best Personal Imaging Product of the Year. At a second gala ceremony, PC Magazine bestowed MGI PhotoSuite II a Finalist Award for Technical Excellence only one of three products so honored in the Software Category representing all application areas.
"MGI PhotoSuite II has been judged the best in its class by our tough panel of editors, uncompromising technology experts," said PC Computing editor Wendy Taylor. "MGI PhotoSuite II is the personal image software of choice for business technology users, because it gives business professionals a strategic, competitive advantage in the workplace," Taylor concluded.
In an article just out in PC Computing's December issue, reviewer Gregg Keizer writes, "[MGI PhotoSuite II is the] best under-$100 photo editor on the market, bar none... couldn't be easier to use; jam-packed with templates and effects; great at grabbing pictures from cameras and the web... it's easily the brightest darkroom of the year." Given a Five Star rating MGI PhotoSuite II has been placed on the magazine's influential A-List for recommended purchase by its one million readers.
In naming MGI PhotoSuite II a finalist in technical excellence, PC Magazine editors recognized MGI PhotoSuite II as being the most Internet integrated software package on the market today. "The Web has been the biggest influence on software design since the introduction of the graphical operating system. Nowhere is this impact more evident than in MGI Software's PhotoSuite II, a PC photography editing package that takes Internet integration to a new level."
MGI Software also received other Comdex accolades recognizing the Company's leadership in video software and it's offerings for original equipment manufacturers. PC Computing named the current version of MGI VideoWave a Finalist in Video Editing, only one of three products so honored in the category that included products designed for professional markets. A Xerox subsidiary and MGI's OEM Business Partner, ScanSoft, Inc, took the MVP award as the Best Document Management Software of the Year with its Pagis Pro 2.0 scanning suite which includes MGI's popular PhotoSuite.
"We are pleased and proud that our products have received this kind of acclaim at the computer industry's most prominent annual gathering," said Anthony DeCristofaro, president and CEO, MGI Software. "It's particularly rewarding to have so many technical experts acknowledge our innovative work and recommend our products for purchase."
