Why Europe happens to lead US in the telecom sector is not so much attributable to European competitiveness but to two el stupido mistakes the US made: 1) US did allow for many standards (=> Europeans didn't and got the world standard PLUS a lot of benefits for the user, such as national and international roaming etc.) 2) The brainless bidding policy for regions in the States hinders the development of the States. Setting up a good quality wide coverage network should be supported, not punished, by the government. All IMO. - rajala
