L,

>>Do you see critical control applications residing on servers running some form of NT?<<

I don't mean to 'butt' in here, but while the Tandems and VMS currently have the speed edge, speed in NT area will begin to arrive when the 900Mhz Merced is released. Eventually cpu speed will certainly become fast enough to level the playing field. After all, the computer is interfacing with equipment that can only produce so fast so as the parallel processing 900Mhz systems come 'online' those superquick 'mini' computers are challenged. Of course the minis will also increase speed and start nibbling at the 'bigs' market share.

In any case, it will be interesting to watch!

JMHO

Ken
