Does a $1.00 end with SMU? Producers are gearing up for year 2000, 1999 is history.

Ford is getting ready to implement production of model year 2000. TRW's joint venture with Mexican Industries is for products (Dollars & cents) using Aguirre Safety Technologies, TRW's joint venture with SMU is for intellect, product development. (Patents & rights). Is Autolive still jointly developing products with SMU? <G>

>TRW, Mexican Industries to Form Side Air-Bag Joint Venture Detroit, Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) --

TRW Inc., the world's largest maker of automobile air bags, said it will form a joint venture with closely held Mexican Industries in Detroit to make side-impact air bags for Ford Motor Co. The joint venture, Aguirre Safety Technologies, has made parts for the past two weeks in a former Detroit Ball Bearing plant on Detroit's West side. The company will supply Ford, the world's second-largest automaker, with side-impact air bags and bag inflators for use in its vehicles.

Other joint ventures for Cleveland-based TRW this year include an electric steering systems accord with the U.K.'s LucasVarity Plc, an air-bag controllers agreement with Japan's Kansei Corp. and a venture to jointly develop safety devices using Simula Inc.'s products in its side-impact air bags.
