Telos Corp. Awarded Army's IS-1 Contract; Five-Year Infrastructure Solutions-1 Contract Is Valued At $380 Million
ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 1998--Telos(R) Corporation announced today that it has been awarded the US Army's Infrastructure Solutions-1 (IS-1) contract.
Under the terms of the contract, which is administered and managed by the Small Computer Program Office, Telos will provide state-of-the-art networking and computing solutions to support the complex and evolving information technology needs of the Army through November 15, 2003. The ID/IQ contract has a maximum potential value of $380 million.
Telos leads a team of world-class technology providers with a proven track record of performance to the government. Telos will provide engineering support services. Key engineering services will also be provided by Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS), Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Federal Data Corporation (FDC), Wang Global Services, Global Knowledge Network (GKN), NCI Information Systems, and a variety of small businesses. Telos will also supply industry-leading products from companies including Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, Santa Cruz Operation, and Microsoft.
As a Government-Wide Acquisition Vehicle, IS-1 is available to both Defense Department and civilian agencies. Foreign military sales are also permitted. Ordering is set to begin February 1, 1999. IS-1 replaces the expiring Small Multi-User Computer II (SMC-II) contract awarded to Telos in 1995.
At the contract signing ceremony earlier this week, Bob Marino, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Telos, said, "IS-1 reflects the dynamic nature of the military's IT needs. The Telos-led team is uniquely qualified to support their complex IT infrastructure as they change the way they do business. We have the capability to react quickly to changes in their environment as well as in technology, making sure the government always has the most effective systems to support their operations."
Ralph Buona, Vice President of New Business Development for Telos, stated that the contract is a major step forward in simplifying the process through which the Army can implement, modernize, and sustain its IT systems. "By including a broad range of enterprise technology products along with support, training, and warranty services, IS-1 gives the Army the ability to easily and efficiently address growth and change in the technology it uses."
According to John Wood, CEO of Telos, the winning IS-1 team can help government customers everywhere achieve a greater return on their IT investments. "The contract calls for a variety of high-value solutions based on open systems architectures, plus TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) initiatives such as distributed systems management and technology refresh programs. 'Team IS-1' can help deliver both improved business operations and knowledge management while controlling overall costs."
Wood added, "This contract award is yet another validation of the Company's experience and past performance in providing ROI-based IT solutions to government customers."
