Men who called themselves christians have done a lot of evil. But as I said before they may not actually have been Jesus's disciples and were really acting on there own misguided impulses. Jesus said turn the other cheek, bless and curse not, don't return evil for evil, give expecting nothing in return, visit orphans and widows, love your neighbor as yourself. These are My disciples who do as I say.
The evil you attribute to the followers of God are actually evils carried out by evil men claiming to be acting for God to justify their actions. The true christians have been persecuted and burned for heretics by the catholic church for the same reason that the chief priests gave up Jesus for crucifixion. For power, to retain power. It was the catholic church that was behind the crusades. The catholic church persecuted Martin Luther and Calvin when they challenged the power and authority of the catholic church by revealing the truth of the gospel once again. This country was filled with those who wanted to escape the catholic church. Our founding fathers in the constitution tried to ensure that no religion could become a state sponsored religion again and be forced on free men. But now we have the same problem again as our government has adopted secular humanism as a state religion and is trying to force that religion on all men. Our government is increasingly hostile towards christianity and even kills them. What about Janet Reno and this statement by her? Is this to be tolerated in our free society?
