Hi Arthur,..***Off Topic***

Arthur, you've asked a complicated question that requires some thought. Rudedog is better qualified to answer a question like this.

However, Dell has positioned itself well ahead by their current use of the net and now they have to address all the future ramifications of this different way of doing business. One of the future functions is higher bandwidth which Dell is also addressing by supplying ADSL modems. They are also moving to do more trouble shooting/set-up type customer service on the net which will increase efficiency.

As for their specific market, we speculated last summer that either they would follow CPQ into services to allow higher penetration into the enterprise segment or that they would take a parallel path utilizing existing manufacturing/execution skills to offer functions and/or equipment that interfaces with the core products. We did not arrive at any consensus. But we pretty much agreed that Dell's management is evaluating the alternatives.

Hope this helps, Rudy is better at this.
