Arthur,..Re:. i seem to be worried about the internet interface with the client, being best studied where absoutely the best internet interface brains are, and where the pressure is the greatest.

Dell has the best brains as far as focus, that being the customer. What you want them to concentrate on is the logistics of dealing with a new interface medium. The new interface medium combined with the already excellent focus and fiscal management, could propel them even further ahead. It's a good idea to think of using the net brainpower to come up with logistical methods of dealing with present business plus ideas for new business.

Dell already has established significant net interface with current customers. These include dedicated customer web sites which detail current configurations and setup, as well as special software applications. I guess you're suggesting that even newer applications exist but they haven't tapped the possibilities yet since they are mostly confined to existing product and services?

Some of us, unfortunately, think in defined hardware/services boundaries that are familiar but you are right, hire the people who can think in more expanded boundaries to take advantage of new interface media and possibilities.

You make a lot of sense,

Lee
