I hate to do this, but... YOU IDIOT! Why write Java code that isn't "pure Java"? I assume that his company is in the same position as the previous company in the story: they write specifically for Windows. Since they write for Windows then they have the option of using Microsoft's interface and getting acceptable performance or Sun's Snail-Java interface and not selling their product because it runs like a dog. You know, Real World vs Ivory Tower Purity issues.
