I would discount this a bit due to the particular choices of the Author.

First of all, Microstrategy is a little company in Vienna Virginia. Yes, they have good technology but they don't define the direction of anything, let alone the market in which they live.

BEA systems is a scary house of cards. Basically, Warbug Pincus put together the largest money warchest in the world to buy the rights to this product from Novell as well as buying out Novell's two biggest distributors of same. This became BEA. It is nothing more than transaction processing monitor for Unix -- analagous to cics on the mainframe under mvs. The dilution is so scary that when you interview with them they will Not tell you how many shares are where. I heard this first hand from someone that was out to see them in the past year.

Therefore, don't make a Verity buy/sell decision based upon this one author's positive bias.
