Jim,
I am not sure if anyone mentioned the most obvious use of pdQ like device - people in delivery business: cab drivers, limo drivers, truck drivers etc. They all have some kind of dispatcher who assigns them jobs. Instead of the dispatcher spelling all the addresses and relevant info, you could just hit a button on dispatcher's screen, and send the info over wireless data network. It's more than a pager, since I believe TCP/IP guarantees that the data is delivered, and if it is not, you get immediate feedback. When the info is received, it is displayed on the pdQ.
You eliminate errors. The dispatcher may spell things incorrectly, the driver may hear it correctly, but make an error writing down the information. The driver, when he is complete with one job, can just click on a menu choice on his pdQ which will send the info back to the office. He may send some status notes about the job completed as well. You save time as well.
This market is huge - millions of potential users. And since pdQ has voice as well, you can use voice to resolve problems.
The cost could be a lot lower than a lot of technologies on the market now. pdQ will probably be $500 to $700, and monthly air time + data could be around $100 / month.
