I think we're comparing apples and oranges.

I'm using front projection as the benchmark. You are focusing on rear projection. Two different markets, two different expectations of quality, two different price points.

It seems to me that PJTV is attempting to bridge both markets. I don't think they are successful. I personally don't like any rear projection units, DLP included. I don't like the fresnel lens effect. Plasma screen is here with a 42 in. costing $15,000. A little pixellated, but fine. For a real home theater with large screen front projection, DLP can't match an Ampro, Barco, Vidikron, or Sony. But to have a decent home theater you have to have a decent screen and decent sound system.

PJTV may be better than the low end stuff, but it is lots more expensive. It may be cheaper than the high end stuff, but it lacks in quality.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I can only give you my personal experience and observations from walking around CES and comparing. I would say that you could do better buying TI engines and selling them to your 20 customers a week (1000/year) like the screwdriver shops do with PC clones. You would make more money and your customers would get better value.
