Hi Allen

No, IOM didn't promise they would recover lost data – they did say they would try; then replace the bad media with good. Out of three disks (JAZZ), one was recovered. Here is the kicker. In trying to recover one of the disks, I create a small partition (800k) in order to get it to mount. It did and that was all. I was unable to retrieve anything, so I sent it along.

What puzzled me was the fact that when the three disks were returned, The one that I had created a partition on was still there, and not a replacement ( kind of makes you wonder if they attempted to do anything at all). That even puzzled customer service.

I've been using computers since 1981 (IBM to start with, and then Mac thereafter) and this is the worst ongoing experience I've had with a hardware company.

I have three Jazz drives and two Zip drives. Pretty bad failure rate, huh?

Obviously one disgruntled customer doesn't make or break a company, but it does give me a pretty fair barometer. If one took a single incident in my litany of bad ones, it would be no big deal. But, the whole picture gives me a pretty bad feeling about this company.

Thanks for your concern, Allen.
