Ibexx, Re: "It's increasingly likely Intel will have a first quarter
that's better than the fourth, because of the Katmai release
and new products from PC makers after Christmas," Wu said,
adding that the Katmai chip is due to be announced Feb.28."

1Q better than 4Q, that's awesome!

Re: "Because of the Year 2000 bug, large companies want to get
all their ducks in a row before the second half of the year,"
said David Wu, an analyst at ABN Amro Chicago Corp. in San
Francisco. "Intel's going to have a stronger first quarter than
initially thought."

Of course, in this paragraph, the author is attributing some of it to the Y2K problem. Whatever. Still, though, may be an "opportunity" for Intel's finance department to shine then by "smoothing" the growth, instead of showing too much of a spike in 1Q and 2Q. Nice problem to have.
